Overseas Delivery Information
The UK’s departure from the European Union, and subsequent new trading arrangements, is causing disruption. Hawthorn Press has now suspended deliveries to Europe and the EU.
We ask that overseas customers be mindful of the following:
VAT
Where applicable, prices include VAT (books are currently zero rated in the UK).
Orders to the EU
Hawthorn Press is registered for VAT in the EU. Each parcel will be marked with our registration number so that parcels can be delivered without undue delays and customs fees.
We must add VAT at the right rate for each EU country and report and pay this. VAT is therefore added when we know where books are to be delivered or where the purchaser lives. Shipping costs are also subject to VAT.
VAT is added at the relevant rates for books, which range from 0% in Ireland to 25% in Denmark).
To comply with the scheme, transactions must be below €150 (about £125 or 6–8 books).
If you are ordering for delivery outside of the UK and the EU, you will be responsible for payment of any local VAT, and will be required to pay extra for delivery and clearance where necessary.
Customs Charges
If you are ordering books for delivery outside of the UK and the EU, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. We recommend that you check with your local post office for more information regarding charges that may apply to your order. Any such charges must be paid by you the customer/importer of record.
