Noorah Al-Gailani

Noorah Al-Gailani’s family is from Iraq. From 2003 to 2024, she worked as curator of Islamic civilisations across Glasgow’s many museums. She joined the British Museum at the beginning of 2024, taking up the position of Curator of Islamic Collections with a focus on the Arab World. As well as curating exhibitions, she works extensively in research and developing educational activities. She is also a teacher of Islam in Saturday schools.

She co-authored The Islamic Year: Surahs, stories and celebrations with Chris Smith.
