Matthew Barton

Matthew Barton is a translator, editor, poet and teacher of creative writing. He taught for many years at the Bristol Waldorf School.  His first collection of poems, Learning To Row, was published by Peterloo Poets in 1999, and his poems have appeared in a range of magazines, newspapers and anthologies.  They have also been included on Radio 4’s Poetry Please.

Matthew has won numerous prizes for his work, including BBC Wildlife Poet of the Year, an Arts Council Writer’s Award and a Hawthornden Fellowship.

In The Winding Road: Family treasury of poems and verses, Matthew carefully compiled a selection of over 200 poems, verses, blessings and meditations from a wide range of sources to follow a child’s journey from birth to early adulthood. Sing Me the Creation, his creative writing sourcebook, is used by poets and teachers around the world.
